As a Mechanical Artisan, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring Heineken’s production lines run smoothly and efficiently. Mechanical artisans are essential to maintaining and repairing the plant’s heavy machinery and equipment — helping to minimize downtime, optimize performance, and ensure both production quality and safety standards are met at all times.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

In this role, your daily duties will include:

  • Maintaining machinery and equipment in line with industry standards ensuring optimal performance.
  • Performing repairs to mechanical systems, components, and equipment as needed.
  • Conducting planned and preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
  • Assisting with building maintenance tasks such as plumbing, welding, and other light repairs.
  • Enforcing Health & Safety regulations by supervising machinery operations and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Executing administrative duties such as logging job cards, completing quality checks, and maintaining maintenance records.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting efficiency improvements and participating in team-based problem-solving.
  • Participating in total productive maintenance (TPM) programs to improve operational processes.

📋 Candidate Requirements

To qualify for this Mechanical Artisan role at Heineken, you should meet the following minimum criteria:

N3-N6 qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Turning, or related trade qualification.
✔ Completed trade apprenticeship with a recognized institution.
Grade 12 or Mechanical NTC3 qualification (or similar).
3–5 years’ practical experience in a mechanical maintenance environment, ideally in manufacturing or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).
✔ Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with limited supervision.
✔ Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and an eye for detail.
✔ Willingness to work shifts and overtime as production demands.
✔ A commitment to health & safety standards and compliance.

Experience with high-speed production machinery is an added advantage — although not always essential — and will help you stand out as an exceptional candidate.
